Jessie
$60.00 – $250.00
Adopt A Dolphin:
Jessie is an adult female Australian humpback dolphin that lives in Moreton Bay and calls Amity Point, North Stradbroke Island, her home. Jessie is easily recognised by the distinct notch at the tip of her dorsal fin. We first met Jessie in May 2015 and she is regularly seen with her juvenile offspring who is at least 2 years old feeding along the rock wall and near the Amity Point jetty. Jessie and her calf like to rest near the sandbanks with the other resident humpback dolphins in her pod. At times, another mother (ID#72), who has a juvenile of the same age, will babysit Jessie’s offspring while she rests in the shallows. Jessie’s juvenile is becoming very independent and she will often let it have a few adventures while she watches (and listens) from a distance. Jessie will make a whistle to communicate to her juvenile when it is time to return to her side. The juvenile still has a lot of growing to do and will reach maturity when it is around 8-10 years of age.
ID: #71
