Muppet

Adopt A Dolphin:
Muppet (ID # 007) is an adult female Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphin that lives in Moreton Bay, Queensland, Australia. We first met Muppet in December 2010 and have since regularly encountered her during our research surveys in Moreton Bay. The large notch on the trailing edge of her dorsal fin makes her easy to recognise. Muppet is part of the Southern Moreton Bay resident community and can often be seen feeding among the mangroves and channels of this region searching for bottom dwelling fish. We estimate that there are between 40 and 55 individual adult females that are part of the Southern resident community. The members of the Southern resident community are almost inseparable and assist each other in finding food and caring for young. Muppet is a caring and nurturing mother, often seen with a calf by her side. Her calf will be reliant on her for at least the first 4 years of life.
