Sperm whales are sentinel beings of our oceans. They are found in every ocean and live in structured societies that are sexually segregated. Females invest years in caring for their young. At times enlist the assistance of babysitters in their clan to care for their young while they forage or rest. The vulnerability and strong bonds between mothers and calves inspired this artwork.
This is a high quality print of the original artwork in ink and watercolour entitled ‘Innocence of the Deep’ by artist and ecologist Dr Liz Hawkins. The print is personally signed and comes with a description about the image from the artist.
