Description
This is a high quality print of the original artwork entitled ‘Underwater Dance’ in watercolour using seawater by artist and ecologist Dr Liz Hawkins.
The artist’s description of the artwork: “Ever since I was a child, I’ve had a fascination with dolphins. The more time I spend with them learning about their wild lives, the more fascinated I become. There are many aspects to their lives that we share, including complex social networks. The Underwater Dance is inspired by the Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins of Byron Bay, New South Wales, Australia. Painted in watercolour, this piece celebrates the playful nature of young dolphins as they explore their world; develop their own close social bonds that can last for decades. They will often use different objects, such as seaweed, to play with during social displays. One of the charismatic characters represented in this piece is a dolphin known as Scooter, who can be recognised by the distinct notch in the trailing edge of his dorsal fin”.
