Description
This is a high quality print of the original artwork entitled ‘The Journey’ in watercolour using seawater by artist and ecologist Dr Liz Hawkins.
Each year the humpback whales undertake one of the longest migrations of any mammal. The whales that pass the East Coast of Australia head to the tropical waters of the Great Barrier Reef and beyond to mate and give birth. A habitat that is a vast contrast to their Antarctic feeding ground habitat. These worldly animals are often met by their smaller coastal cousins, the Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins along their migration. ‘The Journey’ in watercolour and pencil celebrates this journey and the excited meeting of cousins along the way. It also reflects on the significance of the reef ecosystem for one of the largest animals to ever exist on this great planet Earth.
